Shiraa, the Palestinian partner of Project WEALTH, won a prize in "Business for Peace" competition organised by the Ben Gurion University of the Negev (Israel). The distinction was awarded in recognition of Shiraa’s capacity to implement innovative projects that foster cooperation between Israelis and Palestinians.
Shiraa is a NGO working in the Bethlehem area : its mission is to create sustainable income sources for disadvantaged populations who lack opportunities to obtain jobs. Within Project WEALTH (Promoting Local Sustainable Economic Development), Shiraa provides the necessary support and tools to help Palestinian women developing their own businesses and integrating the labour market.
Implemented over 40 months, Project WEALTH intends to introduce new approaches to the promotion of socio-economic development and enhancement of territories through alternative economic development practices. A Professional Euro-Network has been created under the project to engage key stakeholders of the Euro-Med area in interactive learning and exchange of expertise to foster local sustainable economic development.
Project WEALTH total budget is € 1.943.512 of which € 1.747.217 as ENPI grant (89,90%). It is coordinated by the "New Israel Fund - Shatil", the largest capacity building organization in Israel. The partnership is made of organisations representing the civil society, public administrations and the academic sector as follows:

• University of Algarve - Algarve Regional Center for Innovation (Portugal, Algarve)
• Apuglia Region - Department for policies related to the promotion of territory, know-how and talents (Italy, Puglia)
• Shiraa Association for Development (Palestine)
