Energy Efficiency Building Codes Workshop in Tunisia Coming Soon

MED-ENEC is organizing a workshop in Tunisia in April 2013, to support implementation of Energy Efficiency building codes (EE BC) in the MENA region.

MED-ENEC - Energy Efficiency in the Construction Sector in the MediterraneanBasically EE BCs are a set of rules covering various parameters which specify the minimum acceptable levels of saving energy in building constructions. Specific binding requirements must be applied by investors, architects and engineers – essential for improving the energy performance of buildings.

The first regional EE BC Workshop organized by MED-ENEC with respective expert in charge of the beneficiary countries and the League of Arab States took place in September 2011. Since then things have developed: Many MENA countries are setting up National Energy Efficiency Action Plans (NEEAPS), experiences were made with building codes - time for a review on regional level. At this second regional seminar that will take place in Tunis, MED-ENEC is inviting the national focal points and  national experts on EE BCs to discuss the experiences and to give feedback about the
  • EE building code study and roadmap methodology;
  • Next steps for specific measures to implement EE BC on national level;
  • Need for technical assistance e.g. for country specific roadmaps; and
  • Task how to inform and raise awareness in order to enforce the implementation.
