Professor Norbert Lammert: “Germany is actively engaged towards the successful development of the Union for the Mediterranean”.
During a working visit to Algeria and Morocco, the President of the German Parliament (Bundestag), Norbert Lammert, confirmed Germany’s support to the development of UfM projects and activities
Professor Lammert stated that “Germany is actively engaged towards the successful development of the Union for the Mediterranean. The presence of a Bundestag representative in the Parliamentary Assembly of the UfM confirms the importance accorded to this institution. We have commonly agreed that cooperation should involve all members of the European Union (EU) and this has also been implemented in our relations with the central and eastern European countries.”
He highlighted the extreme importance of areas such as energy and environment, and pointed out that “many projects are being carried out within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), for what coordination and joint efforts are required”.
